4 slices brown bread
50 gm butter
1 onion, peeled and sliced
1 capsicum, de-seeded and sliced
1 tomato, sliced
1 potato, boiled and sliced
30 ml mint chutney
Salt – to taste
Chaat Masala – to taste
Nicely butter the bread slices.
Put a layer of mint chutney on the bread.
Put potatoes, onion, capsicum and tomato slices.
Season with salt and chaat masala.
Heat the frying pan and 1 tsp of butter.
Toast the sandwiches on both sides till crispy brown.
Brown Bread – 2 (You can use any type of bread)
Egg – 1
Onion – 2 1/2 tbsp
Green Chilli – 1 finely chopped
Turmeric powder – a pinch (optional)
Pepper Powder to taste
Salt to taste
Cheese – 2 tbsp grated (optional)
Butter/oil – 1/2-1 tsp
. Cut onions and green chillies finely. Toast bread with butter and keep it ready.
. Whisk together egg, 1 tbsp water, turmeric powder and salt.
. Add chopped onions, green chilli and grated cheese (I used Britannia cheese) to the egg mixture.
. Grease tawa with butter or oil and heat it. Once hot, add the egg mixture and cook on medium heat.
. When the egg begins to set, flip it over to the other side.
. Cook for 2-3 seconds, sprinkle pepper powder and fold it in half.
. Cut the half and place it between 2 toasted breads. Enjoy with tomato ketchup.
Bread Slices : 6 – 8
Chickpea Flour: 1 cup
Rice Flour: 1/4 cup
Onion : 1
Green Chillies: 2, finely chopped
Finely Chopped Cilantro / Coriander Leaves : 3 tbsp
Roasted Cumin Powder : 1 tsp
Red Chilli Powder : 1/2 tsp (Optional)
Salt to taste
. Peel and chop the onion into small pieces.
. In a mixing bowl, Combine all the above ingredients except bread and oil.
. Slowly add water and mix it to a thin consistency.
. Dip the each bread slice both sides into the batter and place it on the hot tawa / pan.
. Add oil around the edges and roast it both sides on low heat till golden color.
. Remove from the flame and serve hot with chutney or tomato sauce.
2-3 slices of Bread
1/2 onion (finely chopped)
1/2 tomato (finely chopped)
1-2 green chilies (finely chopped)
2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
Salt To Taste
1 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp red chili powder or to taste
Oil to fry
. Beat the eggs and add milk, chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilies, coriander, salt & chili powder.
. Beat the mixture until foamed.
. Heat oil in a frying-pan .
. Dip bread slice in the mixture and coat it evenly and fry over low flame.
. Fry on both sides until done. Repeat the same for other slices.
. Serve egg toast hot with ketchup.
8 bread slices
1 tin condensed milk
Sugar syrup(chasni) infused with green cardamom
1 Tbsp oil
1 jug of milk
1/2 tsp saffron
1 Tbsp rose water
. Heat up the pan and drizzle it with oil and fry the bread slices.
. Prepare saffron milk. Heat up a pan and pour milk and saffron.
. Let it reduce down and add rose water when the milk is almost reduced.
. Pre-heat the oven at 120 degree.
. Layer the fried bread with sugar syrup, condensed milk, saffron milk and bake it in the oven for 10- 15 minutes.
Bread Slices – 4
Rawa (Suji) – 1/4 cup
Tomato (Big size) – 1
Onion (medium size) – 1
Green Chillies – 2
Coriander leaves – few
Red Chilli Powder – two small pinches
Salt – 1/4 teaspoon or as per taste
Oil – for deep fry
. Chop onion, tomato, green chillies and coriander leaves finely.
. Remove the brown portion from the corners of the bread slice and cut it into four squares.
. Put the rawa (suji) in a bowl. Add salt and red chilli powder and mix well. Then add the chopped onion, tomato, green chillies and coriander leaves to the rawa. Mix it nicely. The juice in the tomato binds the rawa with onion etc. If necessary sprinkle little water and make a thick paste like consistency.
. Heat oil in a kadai. Coat the bread slices with the rawa paste and deep fry till it become crisp and golden yellow.
. Serve as evening snack with tea.
10 – 12 Bread Slices
1 – 1 1/4 cup Yogurt
1/2 cup Rice Flour
1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
2 – 3 Green Chillies, finely chopped
1 inch piece Ginger, finely chopped
Few Curry Leaves
A pinch of Baking Soda
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
. Trim the edges of bread slices and cut into cubes.
. Add yogurt and rice flour and mix until well combined or bread is mashed.
. Add the chopped onion, green chillies, ginger, curry leaves, cumin seeds, salt and baking soda to the bread mixture and mix well to form a thick batter.
. Add little more yogurt or rice flour to adjust the consistency
. Heat oil in a pan for deep frying the vadas.
. Wet your fingers and take a small portion of vada batter and flatten it on your palm or on a plastic sheet.
. Make a small hole in the middle of the vada and slowly drop it in the hot oil.
. Fry them until golden brown on both sides.
. Drain on a paper towel and serve hot with chutney or tomato sauce.
